July, named after Julius Caesar, marks the peak of summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern, with the United States celebrating Independence Day on the 4th. This month brings a diverse array of events across California, from wine-paired concerts in Napa to art festivals in Petaluma, offering experiences for all tastes amid the summer warmth. Dive into the blog below for my list of the latest summer festivities.

4TH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS

DOWNTOWN NAPA

4th of July Parade, Celebrations & Drone Show

  • 9:30 AM Parade (Route:  2nd and 3rd Streets)
  • 3–10 PM Oxbow Commons Activities
Feat. food/drinks, a kid zone with inflatables, games & free bike valet
  • 3–9:30 PM Main Stage Live Music
  • 8:15–8:30 PM Salute to America
  • 9:30–9:45 PM Drone Show

Get ready to paint Napa red, white, and blue this 4th of July! Kicking off at 9:30 AM, the Napa Sunrise Rotary presents a stars-and-stripes spectacle parading down 2nd and 3rd Streets. But that’s just the appetizer, folks!

The main course is served at Oxbow Commons from 3 PM to 10 PM. Kiddos can bounce, play, and be merry in the Kids Zone until 8 PM, while you groove to tunes from DJ Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist, Momotombo SF, and the crowd-pleasing Wonder Bread 5.

PRO TIP: Leave your car in park and cruise in on two wheels with free bike valet at Oxbow Commons.

Hungry? The food court’s got you covered with everything from tacos to sweet treats. And just when you think it can’t get better, look up! At 9:30 PM, 400 drones will light up the sky in Northern California’s largest display by Sky Elements. It’s a tech-meets-tradition finale you won’t want to miss.

PRO TIP: Some of the best viewing areas for the show at Oxbow Commons are at 1st and 3rd Street bridges, Veteran’s Memorial Park, China Point, Riverfront Green, and the Riverfront Promenade.

This isn’t just another 4th of July—it’s a Napa Valley spectacular!

CALISTOGA

Star Spangled Social & Parade

  • 11 AM–Noon Parade (Route: Lines up on Cedar, ends at North Oak)
  • 2–8 PM Social Makers Market @ Pioneer Park
Feat. food court, kids zone, live entertainment & laser light show

If you’re looking for the ultimate small-town 4th of July experience in Napa Valley, look no further than Calistoga’s Star Spangled Social and Parade! I’ve been to my fair share of Independence Day celebrations, but this one takes the cake (or should I say apple pie?).

PRO TIP: Start your day with a stop at Sam’s General Store. Their iced coffee drinks will give you the rocket fuel you need to last through the entire celebration. Or better yet, grab one of their famous Napa Valley picnic baskets—they’re the perfect way to enjoy the festivities in style!

The parade kicks off at 11 AM along Lincoln Avenue, showcasing a variety of floats, dancers, and horses celebrating this year’s “American Roots” theme. Starting at Cedar Street, the parade marches down Lincoln Avenue and ends at Fair Way. Grab your Sam’s coffee and find a spot along the route to watch the local community’s creativity and patriotic spirit on full display.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, folks. Once you’ve had your fill of parade candy, mosey on over to Pioneer Park for the real party. Live music that’ll have you tapping your toes, a maker’s market for those unique finds, and enough food vendors to satisfy even the pickiest eater in your crew (though that Sam’s picnic basket might have you covered).

As the sun sets, get ready for a laser light show that’ll knock your star-spangled socks off. It’s the perfect cap to a day full of small-town charm and big-time fun. Trust me, this is one July event you won’t want to miss. Calistoga knows how to party, and they’re inviting you to join in!

INSIDER TIP: Why not turn this into a long weekend or staycation? Book a cozy cottage room at the Brannan Cottage Inn, or snag a chic downtown loft at Brannan Lofts. That way, you can fully immerse yourself in the Calistoga charm and maybe even squeeze in some spa time or wine tasting. After all, when in Napa Valley, right?

All the while, groove to the sizzling sounds of the Jay Silverheels Band.

Bring the whole fam—kiddos included—for a patriotic playground of activities and lawn games. Don’t forget your chairs and blankets for prime fireworks-free lounging. It’s the perfect way to celebrate before the sun sets, leaving you time for evening shenanigans elsewhere.

PRO TIP: Don’t forget your fur babies—just make sure to keep them on a leash and they are well-behaved.

Kick things off at the Red, White, and Blue Bicycle Parade from Meily Park to Lyman Park. It’s adorable, it’s festive, and it’s the perfect way to work up an appetite for the evening’s festivities.

Settle in at Lyman Park for a concert by the Saint Helena Community Band. These folks know how to toot their own horns (pun intended) and set the perfect patriotic mood.

PRO TIP: Between events, don’t forget to sample the local flavors. Pop into a tasting room, grab a bite at a local eatery, or simply stroll down Main Street soaking in the festive atmosphere.

The real party starts at 6 PM in Crane Park with the community festival. Think local food, drinks, and more red, white, and blue than you can shake a sparkler at.

Cap it all off with a bang (literally) at 9:30 PM with a fireworks display visible from Crane Park and St. Helena Primary School.

INSIDER TIP: Enter the Bocce Court raffle for a chance at VIP fireworks viewing. It’s $40 to enter and $750 if you win, but can you put a price on the best seat in the house?
